Helicopter Crash News - Bipin Rawat on His Way to New Zealand

A helicopter carrying the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Monday. The crash killed 11 of the 14 people inside, including the CDS, and injured the other two. General Bipin Rawat is critically ill, but the helicopter's pilot was not injured. The accident occurred due to poor visibility. The chief of the Defence Staff was on his way to attend the Defence Faculty College in Wellington, New Zealand. He was to attend the event with Chief of Army Staff MM Naravane.

The crash site is located in a forested area, so access to the wreckage is difficult. Rescuers are sifting through thick smoke to find the bodies of the pilots and other passengers. The burned-out bodies of the victims are not easily identifiable, and it is not clear whether they have been identified. However, the Air Force has confirmed that Rawat was on board the helicopter and has ordered an inquiry into the crash.

According to sources, the CDS was en route to the Defence Staff College in Wellington, New Zealand, when the helicopter crashed. He was also on his way to the Indian Air Force base in Sulur, near Coimbatore, after retiring as army chief. The crash caused several casualties, including the CDS, and the aircraft crashed into a field. The Indian Air Force said in a tweet that it would investigate the crash, but did not release the cause of the accident.
