The Downfall of UET begins.....

University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore is one of the oldest institutions of Pakistan, It is the pioneer institute of Engineering in Pakistan. The University is the home to brilliant and genius students of Punjab.

UET used to be most affordable institute for Engineering as it is a government chartered institute. Recently a "Daily Times Pakistan"  newspaper featured UET as "The best value for money" in Pakistan, because of its affordable fee structure.

But the now the situation has changed drastically which is alarming and may effect the reputation of this prestigious institute. The country is going through a tough time and so is the economy. The economic crisis has effected every sector especially the education sector. The HEC's budget has been reduced by 50%. The rise in the fee and other dues are obvious but comprising of Merit under such situation is pathetic.

UET used to offer an A category, which was admission gaining opportunity for most of the students as it was purely based on Merit. Around 75-80% students studying in UET are admitted on basis of this category.

But this year, the A category has been sub divided this into 2 categories A1 and A2. A1 is same as A category used to be. But the A2 category which costs thrice the A1 has very less (Around 50% Aggregate ) Merit compared to A1 (75-80% Aggregate ) has been added. This has not only limited the seats of A1 category but also restrained many brilliant students from securing admissions. This self finance scheme will change the UET's reputation and position.

If a system is to be ruined, the first attempt is to demerit it and that's what has been done. Slowly, The Downfall of UET begins......
