The promotional video of the new season of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati coming on Sony Entertainment has become a topic of discussion. In the video, the host of the show Amitabh Bachchan is seen questioning the rumor spread about the embedding of GPS trackers in the new 2000 notes after demonetisation in 2016. The video tweeted from the official Twitter handle of Sony Entertainment has been suit on the sets of KBC. In the video, a female contestant is sitting opposite show-host Amitabh Bachchan.

As per the show format, Amitabh asks him a question, “Which of the following has GPS technology?

Option one typewriter,

two – television,

three – satellite

fourth – 2,000 note.

fourth – 2,000 note.”

How did you accept the joke as truth?

The contestants smile and confidently choose the last option, which is of Rs.2000 note. Laughing contestants ask him if he is joking? To this he said, “Why would I joke about this? The joke was what you believed to be true.”

In such a situation, the contestant tried to defend himself by saying that such information was given in the news. So it is their fault. Amitabh Bachchan tells the contestants that even though the media made the mistake of spreading misinformation, the consequences of believing fake news have a direct impact on them, as they have lost the game.

The rumours were denied by the Finance Minister.
In fact, in the year 2016, such news was circulated that “state-of-the-art nanotechnology GPS chips” have been installed in every Rs 2,000 note to end the issue of black money in the country, while this thing was completely wrong. A day after the Center discontinued ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes, when asked whether ₹2000 notes have a chip to enable satellite tracking, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “Where do you get it? Found out? I haven’t heard of it.”

Rumors on social media claimed that the note had a chip that would make it recognizable when put together in a stack, and that it could also be tracked via satellite.
