The Justice League movie is ripping up box office records, while the new Avengers movie next year is tipped to be even bigger.
When it comes to movies, there is nothing hotter than superheroes right now.
But who is the greatest?
Obviously they all have different powers, so comparing them is almost impossible.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped people from trying, even in the movies.
In the original Avengers, we saw multiple battles between the heroes, while the Batman Vs Superman movie was built around their fight together.
So, let’s just imagine that they have been dragged out of their respective universes and dumped in a fighting pit somewhere, much like Thor and The Hulk faced in the recent Thor Ragnarok movie.
Who would be the one to walk out?
THOR
He may have lost his hammer but he has got a power upgrade in the last movie. He was just the God of Thunder but now he’s the All-Father. Apart from being, well, a God and impossible to destroy, he also seems able to fire off electricity in all directions, which could cause plenty of problems for powered superheroes such as Iron Man. If he can survive a pounding from Hulk, he can survive pretty much anything.
Thor’s lost his hair and hammer but gained new powers.
HULK
He’s going to be pretty tough to stop. Yes, he’s not what you would call a smart fighter but he’s invulnerable and only gets stronger the angrier he becomes. So you can do plenty of damage to him but he’ll just bounce back and give you more in return. His only vulnerability, if you can call it that, is that he will fall asleep if you leave him alone. Maybe if everyone else just waits until he dozes off, and then starts the fight?
IRON MAN
Yes, Tony Stark is just an average human and his whole power comes from the flying suit. But he’s also the smartest one and can stay out of trouble until it comes time to get into the action. Plus he’s able to control multiple suits at once, so he could drop the Hulk-basher suit as well as some of the others and basically wrestle the other heroes all at the same time. He’s an outside chance in this crowd but he could surprise.
SPIDER-MAN
The new Spider-Man is a bit young to handle this crowd. But Spider-Man has all sorts of useful powers and a Tony Stark suit that makes him a very tricky opponent. He’s fast, durable, strong and has his famous Spidey-Sense, which allows him to dodge incoming blows and missiles. If he and Stark teamed up, they would be hard to stop. And then he could certainly take Iron Man ...
SUPERMAN
His strength and power is almost unlimited, he cannot be killed and he can fly. What else do you need to say? His weakness is he will always look to give people a second chance, rather than finish them off. Perhaps someone might be able to use that against him. Then, of course, there is the whole Kryptonite thing. Maybe Iron Man or Batman have some they can use against him. If so, he goes from big favourite to an outside chance.
THE FLASH
Not one of the highest profile heroes but, let’s face it, he’s almost impossible to catch. He can race around and stay out of harm’s way while all the big guns are pounding on each other, then swoop in at the last moment to take the glory. Think of him as the Stephen Bradbury of the hero world.
WONDER WOMAN
Not only is she a deadly warrior but she is also a God-killer. That’s bad news for the likes of Thor. Her Bracelets of Submission can also deflect anything that Iron Man or Batman could throw at her and she can also do a spot of flying. Actually, the most likely scenario to this fight is an angry WW ties the lot of them up with her Lassoo of Hestia and then forces this bunch of silly boys to grow up, act their age and stop fighting.
BATMAN
You would think he’s the rank outsider here, as he doesn’t even have a super-powered suit like Iron Man. But, as Batman Vs Superman showed, he can defeat even the greatest of heroes with some planning and trickery. Like Iron Man, he’s going to have plenty of gadgets to cause trouble.
PROFESSOR X
Something of a wild card here. Professor Charles Xavier is confined to a wheelchair and doesn’t pack much of a punch. But then there’s his mind. He can enter the mind of even the most powerful mutant and make them do what he wants. Usually that would be to stop fighting. On paper, then, he could make them all sit in the corner or bow down before him. Except ... there are a couple of aliens in this group, namely Thor and Superman. Could his mind powers work on them?
DR MANHATTAN
An even wilder, wild card. He’s from The Watchmen, which was published by DC Comics but is completely different to their Batman/Superman universe.
For those who don’t know him, he was a nuclear physicist who was disintegrated in a horrible accident but not only put himself back together, he learned how to manipulate matter. He is indestructible, able to make himself any size or shape and also able to disassemble other people, literally turning them back to their component elements. It doesn’t matter if you are a god, he can still turn you inside out. Or can he? In his world, there is nothing like Superman or Thor. Only combat could tell who would win ... (Daily Telegraph)
