One must be ritually pure (Taharat) to perform Istikhara.

Before going to bed pray two rak’ahs of non obligatory prayer.
In the firstraka after Surah Fatiha recite Surah al-Kafirun (surah 109).

In the second raka after  Surah Fatiha recite Surah al-Ikhlas (surah 112).

After that recite Istikhara Dua in Arabic.

When reciting haadha’I-amra, he/she must think of the person they love and want to mary.

Haadha’l-amra turns up twice in Istikhara Dua so think of that person twice

After that he /she go straight to bed and sleep with his/her face toward qiblah.

Inshah Allah he/she will see a sign in their dream that the person is suitable for marriage or not.
