Every year Bise Lahore Board conducts the matriculation examination which is also known as SSC exam in the month of March. Usually the first paper of matric is conducted in the first week of March. A very large number of students appeared in these exams from districts of Kasur, Sheikhupura, Okara, Lahore and Nankana Sahib. All these districts are included in the jurisdiction of Bise Lahore Board. It is the duty of the Board to control, regulate, organize the matric, ssc, 9th class and 10th class annual examination for the students of all public and private schools residing in it's dominion. It is expected that matric date sheet 2017 will be issued by the officials atleast one month before the paper commencement date. Punjab University is one of the most oldest University in Pakistan. After the establishment of Pakistan it was responsibilty of the Punjab University to conduct the SSC and HSSC level annual examinations. However, later in 1954 through the promulgation of Punjab University Act Ordinance the Board of Secondary Education was established and it took the control of Secondary, Intermediate and Pakistani & Classical Languages examinations control from the said University. The first ever examination of these levels were taken in 1955.
When Bise Lahore Board was created in 1954, it inherited a very large territorial jurisdictions for conducting the annual examinations in the provinces of Punjab, Azad Kasmir, Baluchistan and Northern Areas. Examination centres were also created in Kuwait and Nairobi (Kenya) to assist the overseas students. As the number of candidates have increased to a tremendous level, so the current jurisdiction of BISE Lahore board has been confined to the districts of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib.

In March the Matric part 2 papers are taken first, then Lahore Board conducts the Matric part 1 papers. Matric part 2 Scinece student also appear in the practical examination which usually starts in the month of April. Now a days competition is at it's peak. So students usually get tuition from different academies and practice the Lahore Board Matric Past Papers before sitting in the final exams.
