The Allama Iqbal Open University AIOU Islamabad is first distance learning university of Pakistan. After success of Open University of United Kingdom, Pakistan’s government established 2ndOpen (Distance Learning) University (AIOU) in Pakistan in 1974 as public university. The main purpose of AIOU Islamabad is “Education for All”.
As 2010, annual enrollment of 1,121,038 students was studied in AIOU and majority of women are students of AIOU Islamabad.
