What is ISSB?

ISSB is the acronym of Inter Services Selection Board. It is a selection board which test the candidates for commission posts in Armed Forces of Pakistan. The board test and judge the candidates through different dimension and decide whether he is suitable for the forces commission or not.
Only the candidates of commission course in Armed Forces such as Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force are tested in ISSB.

Centers of ISSB:

Currently ISSB has four centers across Pakistan. The premier and the oldest one is situated in Kohat Cantonment Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. The other centers are in Gujranawala, Malir Cantt. Karachi and Quetta Cantt. Balochistan.
Most people thinks that more candidates are recommended in Kohat center, it is not true. The ISSB has a specific standard, any candidate reaching this standard is considered as Recommended irrespective of his appearing center.

ISSB Logo:

The logo of ISSB is comprised of the three icons of armed forces and its color in background, such as army icon which is two cross swords and red color in background, the Air Force icon eagle with sky-blue color in background and The anchor with dark-blue represents Pakistan Navy. These icons make a circle which has another circle in green color on which the name 'Inter Services Selection Board' is written. The whole circle is encircled with a yellow wheat wreck. In the below pic, the logo in the center is the ISSB Logo.

The official website of ISSB is www.issb.com.pk . All the news, call letters and notices are uploaded on this website. Candidates are advised to visit this website for further details.

How to Apply for ISSB:

Most candidates ask, how to apply for ISSB? It is noted that you can't apply in ISSB directly for example by submitting form or through online registration. Candidates have first to apply for commission course in any Armed Force of Pakistan and then have to pass all the preliminary stages. After a person get successful in the preliminary process, the candidates will be given the form which they will fill out and will submit back in the selection center with in a prescribe time.

ISSB Form:

As we early stated that the form for ISSB is to be receive from the selection center after passing all the initial tests. The form is to be fill in and then to be submitted in the same selection center.

Call Letter for ISSB Test:

When the candidates submit their forms, their forms and data is verified and after which they are sent the call letters through courier Pakistan Post. The call letter generally arrives 15 days prior to reporting in center. The call letter is also uploaded to the website. Candidates can check their status by visiting the ISSB Website and then by clicking the call letter section and have to enter his CNIC. If his call has been uploaded, he will see his detail otherwise will show the blank table if fresh candidate or the detail of previous appearance if re-appearing.

Tests in ISSB:

The candidates will have to go for the ISSB Center which has been mention in the call letter, there he will give tests and interviews. The lodging and food etc. are free. There is no fees for ISSB Test.
The following tests are to be taken during the 5 days stay in ISSB.

ISSB Intelligence Test:

The candidates will be tested in the intelligence test as he was in the initial test.

Mechanical Aptitude Test in ISSB:

The candidates are to be tested in Mechanical Aptitude. In this type of test, candidates are tested in the general ability about science and physics laws. More details to be uploaded soon, so please stay in touch and keep visiting this site regularly.

Psychological Tests in ISSB:

The type of tests which determine the mental level of candidates are known as Psychological Tests. The candidates also have to perform psychological tests during the ISSB.  

Group Tests in ISSB:

In group tests, the candidate is tested whether he can cooperate and work in a group or not and whether his manner is friendly towards the group or not. Various group activities have to perform in Group Tests.

Interviews in ISSB:

The candidates will also give details interviews with the Deputy President and a Psychologist. The candidates are checked in every dimension during the interviews.

ISSB Result:

When the tests are ended and the candidates go back to home, the result letter are sent them at their postal address means at home address through the Pakistan Post. The result is generally that of two types, either Recommended or Not Recommended. Each is explained in below topics;

Recommended Candidates of ISSB:

The candidates whom performance satisfy the selection board are declared as Recommended. The recommended candidates are further tested in medical in a nearby Combined Military Hospital CMH. This recommendation letter valid for one year.

Not Recommended Candidates of ISSB:

The candidates whom performance couldn't satisfy the selection board are declared as Not Recommended. The journey of Not Recommended candidates ends with receiving the letter. The letter doesn't provide the details or reason(s) due to which a candidate is declared as Not Recommended. The candidate itself has to find out his faults and have to overcome it.

Validity of ISSB Result:

The result of ISSB Test is valid for one year in case of Recommendation. It means if any candidate get recommended in ISSB, he can't appear for Test again with in one year of the Test. As some candidates get recommended however they are not selected in the final merit list, in this case they have not to appear in ISSB Test for one year and the same result is acceptable.
The candidates who are declared as Not Recommended also can't appear for the Test with in 120 days. They have to wait for 120 days if they wish to appear again.

Preparation Academy for ISSB:

Although Coaching and Preparation for ISSB in any academy is illegitimate however different academies prepare candidates for the tests. Most of these academies are working under the retired military officers. Currently Noor Forces Academy Rawalpindi, Jinnah Forces Academy Peshawar, Pak Forces Academy Rawalpindi, Forces Academy Rawalpindi, Ali Forces Academy Abbottabad etc. These academies varies from each other in preparation, fee structure, coaching duration and hostel and other facilities.
We never recommend/ suggest any academy.

Online Preparation for ISSB:

Candidates can get online preparation in the Facebook Groups for ISSB Preparation. There, many candidates, who have been went for the tests share their experience and can give you tips also.
Moreover candidates can prepare online for Intelligence Test on free website such as pakone.pk or gotest.pk for free.

ISSB Notes:

Several academies preparing candidates for the ISSB Tests provide notes also. These notes are found very helpful towards gaining preparation and help at home. Contact with the respective academy for further information.

Best Book for ISSB:

Currently the book for Dogar Brother's is better for ISSB preparation which is available in every good book shop across Pakistan. However if anyone has the notes written by any ISSB Preparation Academy, then its the best choice, as these are up-to-date and reflect more information and helpful material about ISSB.

Total Chances for ISSB Test:

It is not good news for candidates that ISSB doesn't give unlimited chances for appearing again and again. There are only two chances of Not Recommendation for candidates, after which they can't apply again for the ISSB Test. However the candidates will get another chance for Higher Qualification Courses after doing Bachelor or Master.

The candidate who get Recommended can still avail the two chances, means the Recommendation doesn't waste the chance.

If a candidate doesn't avail any of chance from the allocated two chances, he will not get any extra chance for the Master or Graduate Chance, means he has only one chance for higher qualification.
