HEC Self-Finance Scheme 2016

HEC logo, HEC Self Finance schemeHigher Education Commission (HEC) Self-Finance Scheme aims to assist foreign students and dual-nationality holders with educational aspirations in Pakistan. Originally it was the project of Economic Affairs Division, but in 2006 it was transferred to Higher Education Commission. The Self Finance Scheme with a limited number of seats in the disciplines of Medicine (MBBS), Dentistry (BDS), Pharmacy (Pharm-D) and B.Sc. Engineering envisages to facilitate both foreign as well as Pakistan origin dual nationality holder students, for their admission in Public Sector Universities / Institutions of Pakistan.

Eligibility Criteria
1) The applicant must hold a foreign nationality at the time of application and admission.
2) The applicant must have passed HSSC or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.
3) Applicant must have either
a. Passed the entrance test of the institution applied to OR
b. Scored a minimum of 550 each on SAT II i) Chemistry ii) Biology, and iii) either Physics or Mathematics I or II tests. Applicants to NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, and UET, Peshawar, must have scored an 800 on the SAT I and 1500 cumulatively on the SAT II Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry tests.
4) The applicant must have a valid TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS score of 5.5. However, language proficiency test results need not be submitted for students whose medium of instruction at the higher secondary level was English.

Merit Criteria
Merit will be determined as per following formula:
Intermediate / equivalent -- 60% weightage
Entry Test / SAT-II -- 40% weightage

Note: Dual National Pakistanis having domicile of Punjab Province are not eligible for admission in MBBS and BDS under Self-Finance Scheme (SFS). The Govt. of the Punjab has converted their MBBS/BDS Self-Finance Scheme (SFS) seats into Open Merit seats for dual national Pakistanis / Overseas Pakistani having domicile of Punjab.
