How to Join Pakistan Air Force as a Commissioned Officer: Step by Step Process

Many of the candidates who want to join Pakistan Air Force as a Commissioned Officer and don't know about the selection process. REGISTRATION:

The first step in they journey of becoming officer is surely registration. Registration is online through internet, the candidates have to visit the official website for Induction of Pakistan Air Force and have to fill out and submit the registration form online after which they will get test slip, candidates have to download that slip and print out on a paper. INITIAL TEST:

The next stage is the competitive one in which the candidates are passed through a testing scheme. All the candidates are tested in Intelligence and Academic. The Test is computer based and time limited. There will be a number of Multiple Choice Questions in each subject which are to be answered in limited time. The candidates who passed the initial tests proceed to next stage while the remaining are screen out.

PHYSICAL TEST:

There is no physical test in Pakistan Air Force Preliminary Tests. The candidates proceed to the Medial Check up with out being tested physically, this means candidates haven't to prove their physical fitness as Air Force needs mental fitness more rather than physical fitness.

INITIAL MEDICAL:

The candidates who passed the Computer Based Initial Test, undergo Initial Medical Test. We can generally say it as a Medical Check up in which the physical checkup is performed. The candidates, who are medically fit are proceeded to the next stage and the unfit (those who have any defects in their body) are referred to the nearer Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for the final decision. In CMH, the expert military doctor examine the case and review the defects, after that he gives the opinion which is considered as final.
The CMH decision is generally of 3 types in which FIT means there is no any major or important defect and everything is okay, the TUF means Temporary Unfit in which candidate has to undergo surgery in CMH (surgery is not acceptable if it has been done other than CMH) and the candidate will considered as FIT after that. It is worthy to be noted that surgery or operation is not free of cost, the candidate has to do payment for it. The last decision is very much worst, if the candidate is considered as PUF which means that candidate is Permanently Unfit.

INITIAL INTERVIEW:

The candidates who successfully passed the Medical Checkup are interviewed in the Selection Center by a board which is comprised of generally two officers, one Wing Commander equal to Lt. Colonel of Pakistan Army and the other is Squadron Leader equal to the Major rank officer of Pakistan Army. The interview is in English and the general type questions are asked such as about family background of candidate, Pakistan Affairs, General Knowledge, Information about Pakistan Armed Forces and about the candidate academic record. The interviewer panel decide about the candidate whether he should be recommended or not for the next stage of tests. On the basis of his ability, the interviewers comment about him as Recommended or Not-Recommended.

ISSB FORM:

Candidates considered as recommended in initial interview get the form for ISSB Tests. The staff issue him a specific form and gives instruction about the form filling and other requirements needed with forms. The candidates take their forms and submit it after they complete it in every aspects. The form generally required the candidate's personal life, family information and academic record etc. The form is in English language and must be filled in English. After two or three days the candidates submit it in the Selection Center. The staff check out the forms if anything missing, he point out it and if filled correctly, then submit it and make an entry of the candidates and note his contact number. He may be called through a telephone call if anything is required additionally.

ISSB TESTS:

After the form is been submitted, the candidates have to wait almost two months when they receive Call Letter for the ISSB Tests through the courier Pakistan Post. The call letter have test date, time and center and instructions written in it. The candidates have to go to any 4 centers across Pakistan which are in Kohat, Gujranwala, Malir Karachi and Quetta. There they spent 4 days in which they are tested in different aspects and dimensions. The ISSB provide free lodging and food to the candidates. The candidates are not allowed to go out of the ISSB Center. The candidates are also given one side Transport Allowance. As the candidates complete their ISSB Tests, they are allowed to go home and the result is delivered at his home address through Pakistan Post which can generally be received with in one week.
The result may be either Recommended means passed are Not-Recommended which means Failure in reaching the passing standard. The result is final and can't be appealed or reviewed.

FINAL MEDICAL:

The candidates recommended from ISSB are medically examined for which they have to report the PAF Base Faisal Karachi where a Combined Medical Board CMB will examined the candidate in detail. The Final Medical results in either FIT or Unfit. In case of Unfit the candidate can appeal to the Board against the decision however the candidates unfit due to Hepatitis can't appeal.

FINAL MERIT:

In the last step, a Selection Board of Air Head Quarter look in the candidates overall performance and prepare the final merit. The selected candidates are sent the Joining letters to their home address which contains Joining date and time and important instructions.

JOINING:

Candidates who receive joining letter then report/join the PAF Academy at Risalpur at the given date and time. The candidates must show their joining letters in the time of entrance to the academy. Their they undergo the training and then become the commissioned officer after the successful training.
