In a Laptop distribution ceremony at Comsats University Mr. Makhdoom Adeel Ur Rehman, Chief Coordinator of Prime Minister for Youth Program or Higher Education has expressed that 100,000 laptops have been distributed on a merit basis, while in next phase more 1 lacs laptops will be distributed for promoting the quality Education.



CIIT Abbottabad had a Prime Minister’s scheme for laptops distribution for the MS/PhD students. CIIT Abbottabad distributed about 429 laptops among the MS and PhD students and graduates of all the programs on June 20-21, 2016 from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm.

Chief Guest at the occasion was Prof. Dr Arshad Ali who is the Executive Director of Higher Education Commission. The Executive Director serves as he Chief Executive Officer Of the Organization. He is the Principal Accounting officer of the Commission.

Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali remained Principal, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS). He is a prolific researcher and academician. He has over 100 publications to his credit in national and international conferences & journals. He has been awarded gold medal by Pakistan Academy of Sciences and COMSTECH for IT research, Presidents’ Gold medal for best NUST researcher of the year 2005 and “Distinguished Scientists of the Year 2006” award by Pakistan Academy of Sciences. Dr Arshad is also a recipient of President’s pride of performance in IT research.

Laptops were awarded to the students; among them was Yasir Ali Abbasi, who is a handicapped student of MS program. The chief guest and the representatives of the Government got off the stage and awarded the laptop to Yasir Abbasi who is wheel chair bound.

Mr. Makhdoom Adeel Ur Rehman, who is the Chief Coordinator (Monitoring) of Prime Minister’s Youth Program gave a talk on what the federal Government is planning for the youth of the country. He said, youth is at the primary agenda of the Government, because a large number of citizens of the country are under 30 years of age group. He explained that the Govt. has increased the budget of Education to 80 Billion Rupees. The current Prime Minister Youth Program comprises of Laptop Scheme, Fee Reimbursement Scheme, Business Loans, Interest free Loans, Skill Development, Internship schemes. At the end of the session he sought suggestions and feedback from the students to make the systems more youth friendly. He requested that the Govt. is playing it’s part in a small way by giving away 100, 000 laptops every year on purely merit basis to the students of Pakistan. It is now upto the students to use these laptops for gaining further knowledge and to avail and share the opportunities with their fellows who do not have them.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali, in his address lauded the beautifully kept campus and also appreciated the hard work and efforts of the management, faculty and staff of the campus to enable the students to study in such a beautiful and serene setting of the landscape, with clean surroundings and flowers everywhere.

He congratulated the CIIT students on the award of the laptops, and asked them to work hard and be a role model for the society. He said, homes make streets, streets make cities and cities ultimately are pivotal in making of a country. So the students should work to make the lives better of themselves and of those around them. To choose ways to make their society a better place to live in.
