Dismay

Definition : Concern and distress caused by something unexpected
Usage : They watched in dismay as the house burned.

Libertine

Definition:  a person, usually a man, who leads an immoral life and is interested in pleasure, especially sexual pleasure
Usage : The libertine was avoided by most decent people in the town.

Unrealistic

Definition:  not showing or accepting things as they are
Usage:  The dialogue in the movie was unrealistic

Irrational

Definition:  1) not thinking clearly : not able to use reason or good judgment
2) not based on reason, good judgment, or clear thinking
Usage : He became irrational as the fever got worse.

Imbibe

Definition:  1) to drink something, especially alcohol
2) to absorb something, especially information
Usage : She imbibed vast quantities of coffee.

Laborious

Definition:  taking a lot of time and effort
Usage:  The volunteers have been commendably laborious in their cleanup of the beach

Egotism

Definition:  The fact of being excessively conceited or absorbed in oneself
Usage:  His vain egotism prevented him from apologizing for what was clearly his fault.

Eradicate

Definition:  to destroy or get rid of something completely, especially something bad
Usage:  The only dreaded disease to have been totally eradicated is smallpox which was wiped out more than two decades ago.

Vitality

Definition : energy and enthusiasm
Usage : He fell in love with her for her vitality and sense of fun.

Ignite

Definition:  1. To arouse the passions of; excite.~n2. To cause to burn.
Usage : The explosives ignited on coming in contact with the sparks generated by the electrical short circuit.

Illiterate

Definition: 1. Unable to read and write.~n
2. Having little or no formal education.
Usage: The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn unlearn and relearn.

Obscure

Definition:  1) not well known
2) difficult to understand
Usage:  The contract is written in obscure language.

Hereditary

Definition:  given to a child by its parents before it is born
Usage : A hereditary title/monarchy

Infatuation

Definition : very strong feelings of love or attraction for someone or something, especially when these are unreasonable and do not last long
Usage : Teenagers have their own infatuations.

Propulsion

Definition:  The force that drives something forward
Usage:  Sailboats use wind as their source of propulsion.
