Magnanimous

Definition:  kind, generous, and forgiving, especially toward an enemy or a rival
Usage : He was magnanimous in defeat and raved about the victor

Erudition

Definition:  The quality of having or showing great knowledge or learning; scholarship.
Usage : He was a brave and energetic traveler an art historian of astonishing erudition and a profoundly perceptive connoisseur of civilizations.

Postscript

Definition:  1) an extra message that you add at the end of a letter after your signature
2) extra facts or information about a story, an event, etc. that are added after it has ended
Usage:  A brief handwritten postscript lay beneath his signature

Preclude

Definition:  to prevent something from happening or someone from doing something; to make something impossible
Usage:  At 84 John feels his age precludes much travelling.

Equilibrium

Definition: 1) a state of balance, especially between opposing forces or influences
2) a calm state of mind and a balance of emotions
Usage: He sat down to try and recover his equilibrium

Monarchy

Definition:  1) a country that is ruled by a monarch (such as a king or queen)
2) a form of government in which a country is ruled by a monarch
Usage:  Italy used to be a monarchy which is a country ruled by kings and queens

Monochromatic

Definition:  having or made up of one color or shades of one color
Usage:  It's a monochromatic room with a blue rug and blue furniture.

Epicurean

Definition:  A person devoted to sensual enjoyment, especially that derived from fine food and drink.
Usage:  The epicurean enjoyed every course of the long feast.

Hypochondriac

Definition:  One suffering from hypochondria ; a patient with imaginary symptoms and ailments
Usage:  The doctor declared there was nothing wrong with the woman a hypochondriac who wished to attract attention by imagining

Pedagogy

Definition:  the art, science, or profession of teaching
Usage : Successful completion leads to a postgraduate certificate in A level mathematics pedagogy

Dissent

Definition:  to have or express opinions that are different from those that are officially accepted
Usage : The staff dissented against the company's top management for its unilateral decision of laying off non-essential employees.

Recede

Definition:  1) to move gradually away from someone, or away from a previous position
2) to become gradually weaker or smaller
3) to stop growing at the front of the head
Usage: The flood waters receded when the storm moved south.

Expound

Definition:  to explain something by talking about it in detail
Usage:  The article expounds the virtues of a healthy diet.

Dynamism

Definition:  1. The quality of being characterized by vigorous activity and
progress.~n
2. The quality of being dynamic and positive in attitude.
Usage : The new CEO has brought tremendous dynamism energy and drive and is hugely respected by all the staff at all levels throughout the organization

Flamboyant

Definition:  different, confident, and exciting in a way that attracts attention
2) brightly colored and noticeable
Usage:  He was a flamboyant personality.
