What is a software application?
Application software is a set of one or more programs designed to carry out operations for a specific applicationApplication softwarecannot run on itself but is dependent on system software to execute. For example: MS Word, MS Excel, console game, library management system, billing system, etc

Application softwares helps you to do different works with your PC suppose, sending and receiving emails, writing documentations and protecting your computers from hacker attacks and virus etc.

The differences of OS and application is, OS helps your PC run and application helps you to do stuffs.
