Selfie Phobia

Today, the word selfie is the most common word among the young generation. Nowadays, we have liberty to capture pictures anywhere we want. We usually see people taking selfies at marriages, parties, social gatherings, even at offices and educational institutions. Later, these photographs are shared on social websites. Events and occasions we used to celebrate earlier, but now, we only spent our time in taking selfies and making poses. This act of 'taking selfie' causes adverse effects and make a person psychologically ill.

Studies show that selfies are having adverse psychological effects on people. According to researchers those who frequently post their selfies on social websites, become conscious about likes and comments and if they do not receive desired likes, their self-esteem is damaged and self-confidence is shattered. So, it is not a healthy activity. Studies says that selfie addiction has increased number of plastic and cosmetic surgeries. People who do not like their looks engage in surgeries and this addiction becomes harmful. They judge their physical appearance by the number of likes and comments they receive which ultimately reduces their self-regard. Selfie is also a distraction when students take selfies between there lectures and classes.

It is necessary to control selfie addiction. Instead of taking hundreds of selfies, we should enjoy those moments that would never come again. Moreover, we have to understand that beauty does not lie in looks and appearance alone, rather it is imbued in a loving heart and personal character. For instance, beauty of a woman do not lies in her features rather her modesty is her beauty. Therefore, instead of taking selfies, we should enhance our talent, read books and give time to our family and friends so that we can be happy and successful simultaneously.
