1. Quaid-i-Azam University
Established in 1967, Quaid-i-Azam University is a public research university in Islamabad, Pakistan. It has been consistently ranked as the top university of Pakistan and is placed in top 100 universities in Asia. QAU has also a privilege to stand among the top 500 universities of the world. It has four faculties and nine research centers offering undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral programs in various academic disciplines. Approximately 7,800 students are currently enrolled in the university. Among the alumni of university are many notable people.
2. Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Established in 1967, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences is a public research university in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is ranked second in Pakistan and is placed among 110 universities in Asia. PIEAS is declared to be the best Engineering University in Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). It offers bachelors, masters and PhD degrees in 8 disciplines. More than 1000 students are enrolled at PIEAS at this moment in time. 3. Aga Khan University
Established in 1983, Agha Khan University is a private research university in Karachi, Sindh. It saves its position among top 3 universities of Pakistan and is ranked number one by HEC in med school category. It has one of the strongest research and teaching faculties. About 70 percent of the biomedical research in Pakistan is carried out by AKU. It offers under-graduate and postgraduate programs in biological and medical sciences. 4. University of Agriculture Faisalabad
Established in 1906, University of Agriculture Faisalabad is a public research institute located in Faisalabad, Punjab. The university is organized into eight faculties and many sub departments. Two community colleges are also affiliated with the university. More than 16,000 students are currently enrolled at UAF.
5. University of The Punjab
Established in 1882, University of the Punjab is a public research institute located in Lahore, Punjab. It secures its position among top 5 universities in Pakistan. It has collaboration with universities across the world and has formalized a pathway for students transfer. The university has 13 faculties with 10 constituent colleges and many departments. Almost 45,000 are enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs the university offers. Among the alumni of the university are two Nobel Prize winners. Other famous alumni also consist of two nuclear physicists.
6. National University of Sciences and Technology
Established in 1991, NUST is a public research university with its headquarters located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It has been consistently part of the top 500 universities of the world. It is ranked 129th in among Asian universities. The co-educational institute offers degree in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. The university offers programs from the fields of engineering to IT, and from medical to management sciences. It is focusing to grow as a center of excellence for research and development in the fields of sciences and technology. More than 7000 students are currently attending the university.
7. Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University
Established in 1994, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University is a public university in Rawalpindi, Punjab. It is ranked second in Pakistan as per agriculture category. It offers degree programs in Bachelor’s , Masters and PhD. The university teaches in four faculties and two universities are connected with it. More than 7,500 students are currently enrolled at the university.
8. University of Health Sciences
Established in 2002, University of Health Sciences is a public research institute in Lahore, Punjab. It is placed second by HEC in the list of top medical universities in Pakistan. It is a medical university and offers programs in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy etc. UHS is a research intensive institute and many researches are ongoing at this moment in time. It has approximately 35,000 undergraduate and 4000 postgraduate students.
9. COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT)
Established in 1998, COMSATS is public research university with its headquarters in the federal capital of Pakistan. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in myriad of fields from engineering to mathematical and medical sciences. Currently more than 35,000 students are attending the university. It is a multi-campus institute with a future plan of opening an overseas campus in the Gulf.
10. Lahore University of Management Sciences
Established in 1984, Lahore University of Management Sciences is a private research institute in Lahore, Punjab.
