Proceed in the path of Allah and Seeing them Off

Encouraging People to Proceed in the path of Allah SWT and Seeing them Off.
The Battle of Badr
Rasulullah SAW walks with the Mujaahideen and advises them. Abdullaah bin Abbas reports that Rasulullah walked with them up to Baqi Gharqad when he sent them off on an expedition. He then said to them, "Proceed in the name of Allah. 0 Allah! Assist them." ('I When Abdullaah bin Yazeed RA was once invited for a meal, he mentioned to the people that whenever Rasulullaah SAW bade farewell to an army, he prayed, "In Allah's care do I hand over your Deen, your trusts and the results of your deeds."

Saidina Abu Bakr RA sees the Army of Usama RA. In a narration discussing the dispatching of Usama's army, Hasan RA,-narrates that Saidina Abu Bakr RA left his home to meet the army. As he saw them off, Saidina Abu Bakr RA walking while Usama RA rode his animal. In the meanwhile, Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf RA was leading Saidina Abu Bakr RA with animal along. Usama RA said, "0 Khalifah of Rasulullaah! Either you ride or I shall dismount." Saidina Abu Bakr RA instructed, "By Allah! Neither should you dismount nor shall I ride! What harm can there be if my feet get dusty for a while in the path of Allah? A person proceeding in the path of Allah SWT receives the reward of seven hundred good deeds for every step he takes. In addition to this, his status is elevated by seven hundred degrees and seven hundred of his sins are forgiven."

After Saidina Abu Bakr RA had seen them off, and was returning, he requested, "If you deem it appropriate to assist me with (leaving) Saidina Umar RA (behind with me in Madinah), please do so." Usaama RA then allowed Saidina Umar RA , Who stay back.Yahya bin Sa'ed reports that when Saidina Abu Bakr RA dispatched several armies to Sham, he walked with Yazeed bin Abu Sufyaan RA who was in command of one of the four armies.Yazeed RA said to Saidina Abu Bakr RA"Either you ride or I shall dismount." Saidina Abu Bakr RA instructed, "By Allah! Neither will you dismount nor shall I ride! I hope to be rewarded for these steps in the path of Allah."(4) Jaabir Ru'ayni RA narrates that as Saidina Abu Bakr RA,was walking as he saw an army off. He then said to them:

"All praises are for Allah, Who has allowed our feet to accumulate dust in His path." Someone asked, "How have our feet become dusty (in the path of Allah) when we are merely seeing them off?" Saidina Abu Bakr RA replied, "Because we have helped them prepare, have seen them off and are making du'aa for them (we shall therefore also share in the rewards of going out in the path of Allah)." Abdullaah bin Umar RA Sometime Sees People Proceeding in the path of Allah. Mujaahid reports that as he was proceeding in the path of Allah, Abdullaah bin Umar RA came to see them off. As Abdullaah bin Umar , was about to part from them, he said, "I have nothing to give you, but I have heard Rasulullaah SAW say that whenever something is handed over in Allah's care, Allah protects it. I therefore hand over in Allah's care, your Deen, your trusts and the results of your deeds." (2)


Welcoming those returning from the path of Allah SWT, the people came outside Madinah when the Sahabah RA returned from their expedition to Tabuk. Saa'ib bin Yazeed RA says, "The people (of Madinah) came to welcome Rasulullaah SAW when he returned from the expedition to Tabuk. I also met him along with other children at Thaniyyatul Wadaa." ( 3 ) Saa'ib bin Yazeed RA also reports, "When Rasulullaah SAW returned from the expedition to Tabuk, the people came out of Madinah to Thaniyyatul Wadaa to welcome him. Still a boy then, I also accompanied the others." (4)
