Sports

  • Adille Sumariwala will head the Indian contingent for Asian Games which will be held in October 2014. He is the President of the Athletics Federation of India. 17thAsian Games will be held in South Korea.
  • Tech Mahindra ties up with the famous former hockey player Shri Dhanraj Pillay to encourage and promote the game hockey. Dhanraj Pillay is the Manager of Indian Hockey Team. He also awarded with Arjuna Award.

Business and Economy

  • India ranked at 5th position in Renewables Global Status Report 2014 while China ranked at 1st position. First time this report was released in the year 2005.
  • The merger of Mumbai and Kolkata will held with Maharashtra and West Bengal under the Department of Telecom. After the mergeness of these cities, the telecom subscribers who travelling from these cities will free from the roaming charges. The present Telecom Minister is Ravi Shankar Prasad.
  • The Korean handset maker Samsung still continues to lead the smartphone market with 29% share as per the report of International Data Corporation which is a market research to conduct analyzing in information technolgy and telecommunications. The Chief Executive Officer of International Data Corporation is Kirk Campbell.

  • Colgate palmolive appointed Issam Bachaalani as Managing Director of India. Colgate palmolive Company is the multinational company which is focus on the healthcare products like soaps, detergents etc. The Chief Executive Officer of Colgate Palmolive Company is Ian M. Cook and its headquarter in New York.
  • The 2nd largest private sector bank of India i.e. HDFC Bank opened its Branch in Dubai. The HDFC Bank taken this step to see the large quantity of Indians in Dubai. Before this the bank has already opened its two international branches in Bahrain and Hong Kong. The Chief Executive Officer of HDFC Bank is Aditya Puri.
  • The Swachh Bharat scheme gets Rs.200 Crore from Tata Consultancy Services and Bharti Foundation for working this scheme. The Chief Executive Officer of Tata Consultancy Services is Natarajan Chandrasekaran. The Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Foundation is Vijay Chadda.

  • Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP) merged with Bharatiya Janta Party which was established in the year 2002 after creating the new State of Jharkhand. Salkhan Murmu was the founder of Jharkhand Disom Party (JDP).
