Appointments

  • Rajni Razdan became the Chairperson of Union Public Service Commission replaced with Prof. D.P. Agrawal. 
  • K.V. Thomas appointed as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee which Committee is analyze the expenditures of Government of India. 
  • Dr.Murli Manohar Joshi appointed as the Chairman of Estimates Committee which Committee is working to increase the efficiency in the administration. 
  • V. Shanta Kumar appointed as the Chairman of Committee on Public Undertakings which Committee is working upon the reports which are examined by this Committee and also examine the accounts of the public undertakings.

Sports

  • Judit Polgar the famous Chess Player retired from competitive Chess Arena. She is the only Chess woman player who remains at No.1 position in the World’s Top players for consecutive 25 years. She is from Hungary. Now, the present World Chess Champion is Magnus Carlsen. 
  • Roger Federer won Cincinnati Masters after defeating David Ferrer. This is his 80th career title and 6th at the Cincinnati Masters. 
  • Serena Williams won Cincinnati Master after defeating Ana Ivanovic. This is her first Cincinnati title. 

Business and Economy


  • The Board of Reserve Bank of India has given the approval to create the post of Chief Operating Officer as per the needs of the economy. 
  • Reserve Bank of India announced that free ATM transactions for savings account holders in six metro cities will decrease from 5 to 3 from 01st November 2014. That cities are Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. 
  • S.M. Swathi the General Manager of Corporation Bank appointed as the Executive Director of Bharatiya Mahila Bank. The Chairman and Managing Director of Bharatiya Mahila Bank is Smt. Usha Ananthasubramanian. Recently, Bharatiya Mahila Bank awarded with Core Banking System Initiative Award 2014. 
  • Indo-Nepal Combined Army Training Exercise will be conducted in the State of Uttarakhand. The name of this training session is Surya Kiran-VII. About 300 personnels will attend this training session. 
  • The highest peacetime gallantry award of Indian Army i.e. Ashok Chakra conferred to Late Maj. Mukund Varadarajan. 12 Shaurya Chakras, 39 Sena Medals, 1 Nau Sena Medal and 2 Vayu Sena Medals also announced on the eve of the Independence Day.
