  • On 12th August 2014, the Government of India decided to appoint Shri Bimal Jain as the Head of Expenditure Management Commission set up by the Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley. Shri Bimal Jain is the former Governor of Reserve Bank of India.
  • On 12th August 2014, the World Health Organization approved the use of experimental drug Zmapp to fight against Ebola Virus.
  • The State Assembly of Tamil Nadu passed the “Tamil Nadu Entry into Public Places Bill, 2014 to remove restrictions on entry of dhoti-clad men in hotels etc. With the passing of this bill, every man wearing a dhoti can enter into any hotel, club, theatres, restaurants etc.
  • Three Members of Parliament namely Shri Arun Jaitley, Dr.Karan Singh and Shri Sharad Yadav awarded the Parliamentarian Awards for the excellence contribution in their parliamentary duties. The awards have given by the President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee.
  • United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) appointed the Commission consisted three members to conduct the inquiry to probe war crimes and human rights violations conflict in Gaza. The Head of this Commission will William Schabas. The conflict on the Gaza strip began in the 2nd week of June 2014 i.e. 13th June 2014.
  • The hydroelectric project namely Nimoo Bazgo Hydroelectric Project iniated on the Indus River by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi.
  • Pope Francis became the first South Korean Visiter in a quarter century. The President of South Korea is Park Geun-hye.
  • The Professor of Iran namely Maryam Mirzakhani became first woman to win the Top Prize in Mathematics. She received the Fields Medal which is generally known as the Noble Prize of Mathematics. The President of Iran is Hassan Rouhani.
  • Vijaywada will become the ad-hoc State Capital of Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh is N.Chandrababu Naidu.
  • The famour Tennis Superstar Roger Federer won his 300th match during the Master Tournament. Recently he ranked World No.3 best Tennis Player by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Roger Federer belongs to Switzerland.
  • Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the Rogers Cup after beating Roger Federer.  Recently he ranked World No.10 best Tennis Player by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga belongs to France.
