New Zealand Opera Limited is the country's national opera company. It presents main stage opera seasons in three main cities, Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. The company engages both international and local creative talents to bring lively and exciting opera to the New Zealand stage. It is also active in the development of promising young New Zealand singers, and undertakes outreach activities in schools and with community groups.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a part time Head of Finance and Administration responsible for managing the finance and administration functions of the company as well as providing strategic financial and administrative advice to staff and board members.
We seek an individual with the following principal attributes and skills:
•At least five years accounting experience in a senior finance position, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation
•Proven ability to develop efficient and effective systems and processes
•Excellent computer skills especially in the use of accounting and payroll packages, the Microsoft office suite and data bases as well as the ability to quickly learn new software programmes
•Well-developed accounting, analytical, and problem solving skills
•Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels
•Be customer focused, anticipating, understanding and responding to the needs of internal and external clients to meet or exceed their expectations
•Excellent skills in data analysis and presentation.
