The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.
The IRC has been working in Pakistan since 1980. The IRC is leading a USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project PRP to improve the quality of reading in public and private schools, supporting at least 2.5 million additional primary school students to read at a level commensurate with standards at their grade level. This goal will be supported by the mutually-reinforcing components of teacher education and professional development (PD), systems reform, and civil society engagement.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The HR Assistant will have perform different HR administrative functions such as new employee orientation, follow up on performance management, leaves recording, staff wellness plans, leaving employee final settlements, follow up on staff life/health insurance, and assist HR Officer in staffing needs. S/he will work, in close coordination with the HR Manager and Sr. HR Officer on policy reviews, HR surveys, staff training and development, performance management, recruitment, while handling the overall HR matters.
The HR Assistant will assist in implementation of Global HR initiatives and practices and will support the HR senior staff in maximizing staffing resources and performance, promote a positive organizational culture, minimize risk and ensure economy and efficiency of work processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist Senior HR Officer and HR Manager in managing recruitments. This includes reviewing & processing job descriptions, posting job ads, screening applications, participating in interviews, checking references, Change Memos, documentation and arrange orientations;
- Ensure that recruitment process is fair and transparent and in line with IRC Global HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper orientation for all new staff with periodic; such orientations must be held with HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Security, IT and Programs.
- Promote and uphold THE IRC WAY (codes of conduct). Ensure that all newly recruited staff understand these codes and sign the acknowledgement for record.
- Process and disperse payroll and monthly salaries and benefits in consultation with all program heads which includes processing of final settlements of terminated staff etc;
- Ensure all staff access to the IRC learning portal and courses are availed online.
- Assist with staff health/life insurances with the insurance companies as well as staff members in resolving their day to day issues.
- Foster and facilitate the development of cooperative professional relations between and among staff at all levels.
- Assist in processing leaving staff clearances to HR Manager in the Project Office in timely manner.
- Perform other duties, as and when requested.
Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 1 year experience in the Human Resources function or Administration or an HR related field.
- Professional experience with INGOs/NGOs and/or international experience is a plus; interest in humanitarian field is preferred
- Written and spoken fluency in Urdu & English required.
- Proven ability to plan long-term, organize priorities and work under administrative and programmatic pressures with detail orientation and professional grace
- Diplomatic and strong acumen in establishing positive working relationships with employees and all other stakeholders to maximize cooperation and productivity
- Very strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
- Proven sense of professional discretion, integrity, and ability to manage situations diplomatically and to effective resolution
