Punjab Budget 2017-18

The following are salient features of Punjab budget 2017-18 presented by Finance Minister Kamran Michal in the provincial assembly here on 10-06-2011


* Budget outlay Rs 654.750 billion.
* 14 percent increase in Rs 220 billion ADP from the previous fiscal year.
* 13.75 percent increase has been announced in the provincial budget for the health sector with allocation of Rs 48.80 billion against Rs 42.90 billion in the previous year.
* 12.31 percent increase announced in the education sector with allocation of Rs 62 billion against Rs 55.20 billion in the previous year.
* The government collected Rs 1.55 billion under the CM’s Relief Fund which were spent for the reconstruction of 89 villages and establishment of 22 model village while 67 model villages were constructed through other resources.
* Rs 1.20 billion will be spent for the rehabilitation and construction of roads while Rs 2.70 billion on irrigation.
* Rs three billion for Danish schools.
* Rs 52.80 billion for the police department.
* Rs 4.50 billion for Yellow Cab scheme.
* Rs 2 billion for the provision of computers.
* Six departments were merged for good governance.
* Elimination of projects allowance for officers.
* Ban on purchase of machinery, equipment and furniture.
* 40 percent decrease in recreation tax.
* GST on services has been reduced 17 to 16 percent.
* Increase in token tax on vehicle above 1000 CC.
* Imposition of 60,000 per annual water conservatory charges on swing poles.
*The budget also includes Rs 19 billion in foreign aid.
*The 2011-2012 Punjab Budget compared to last year’s saw an increase of Rs. 90 billion.
*A 15% increase in the salaries of government employees has been allocated in the budget.
